This crane simulator allows new crane operators to develop the necessary skills without having to operate a real crane. This can be very useful in high-cost cranes such as in the harbour, or above production lines. Every minute this crane is not put to good use has a huge cost. Training in VR also promises to significantly lower the risks of incidents.
Together with VRTS, OneBonsai has developed VR solutions for security personnel to train on difficult situations. Using a sprint-based approach, OneBonsai helped VRTS find a product-market fit and pitch this solution to its potential clients.
Using our insights in VR technologies, OneBonsai prototyped both hardware as software to enable users to experience the best and most realistic VR experience firsthand.
OneBonsai was asked by Delhaize to create a Virtual Reality visit. This VR visit was shown to their affiliate store holders at their flagship event.
OneBonsai met the challenge to perform this project in a very short timeframe, and using novel techniques delivered a video as a 360 video to be used in a Gear VR or Oculus Go device. We also provided 30 devices to be used to show the Virtual Reality visit to over 300 visitors during the event.
OneBonsai created a 3D visualisation of a new lab (to be constructed) so it could showcase the lab equipment our client could provide. These specialised equipment are typically used in so-called clean rooms.
The challenge in this project was to port the existing, extremely high-poly 3D models of the client into an environment that was highly polished and optimised for rendering. Using Unreal Engine we managed to export a 60fps video at 1080p and within the strict timeline provided by the client. Unreal Engine enabled us to on-the-fly make changes to the environment and quickly re-render if needed.
OneBonsai built a tactile experience custom made for the city of Brussels. This tactile experience showcases interesting locations at the MAPIC international retail property market trade show. Possible investors are invited to select a region to view an immersive WebVR application. A 360 video of each location shows real-life footage captured by Poolpio. These 360 videos let the visitors discover the city in a natural and memorable way.
To build this immersive tactile experience we used WebGL to power the browser based 360 video player. ThreeJS was used to stream the 4K 360 media source in the skysphere’s texture and WordPress as a CMS to speed up the data input. Additionally we optimised the performance by setting up a RAM disk and a local area CDN.
VR Visit of Brussels
In addition to the tactile experience we made a Virtual Reality visit of the city of Brussels. This VR visit enables visitors to navigate in an easy way from one 360 video to another and from one neighbourhood to another.
The first challenge was to build a Virtual Reality experience that users can pick up and use without any help. This means that our UX designers polished the user journey in order to make it as straightforward as possible. The second challenge was to optimise the application in order to stream 4K 360 video on demand within Unreal Engine 4.
By default, Unreal Engine 4 doesn’t support the streaming of a 4K media source on a texture. In order to achieve the 4k 360 video streaming speed we wanted to reach, we used a custom build of Unreal Engine 4. We optimised the 3D pipeline of the Nvidia GPUs to the Vive VR headset in order to reach a buffer time of 1 second between two 360 videos.
Credit Agricole – Baby Safety VR Experience
This development for Credit Agricole, the insurance company in France, was focused on sensitization around hidden dangers in a living area for small children. The experience showed the world through the eyes of the kids, visualizing their imaginations. The experience was optimized for mobile viewing on an Oculus Go. We worked closely together with 87 Seconds to bring to life this project.
