Making VR video is a great and fun experience. These days, there are already quite capable cameras available on the marketplace which help you create fun 360 videos. While it probably will be difficult or impossible to create a professional video, the output of such devices often is acceptable for smaller projects.
Some examples include the Samsung Gear 360, the Insta360 One or the Garmin VRB 360. The latter two already support 4K video, while the Samsung Gear 360 also can livestream video to Facebook or Youtube, but exhibits a lower resolution. All cameras automatically can stitch together the video feed, with varying results.
Apart from a camera you will have to practice how to make the best video. Professionals will create a script, place the camera, have the actors perform the script and go back to the camera. One of the biggest challenges with 360 video capture is that the director is unable to be present (as otherwise he would be visible!). This poses severe challenges if performing a more complex scene!
Therefore, to make a proper video, a camera stand is no luxury. Also ensure that the 360 video camera allows you to remotely activate the camera. This typically can be done through an accompanying smartphone app.
Bear in mind that the shooting of a 360 video is just one part of a bigger project. The quality of the end result is often determined in the post production, and will require a special skill set to be executed properly.
