360 video & VR

We create so-called immersive video or 360 video. This type of video will be shown all around you, instead of on a flat screen.

What is 360 video?

A 360 video (also called immersive video or VR video) is a video that is shot in all directions. Using a VR Viewer like a Google Cardboard, one can look in all directions (left , right, up & down) and see video footage. This footage is typically assembled from a number of cameras, with each footage seamlessly connected to the rest. The result is an immersive experience in which the user can feel as if he is at the location where the footage is taken.

Artistically, this means that the film maker is able to shoot a lot more area, and can create compelling, immersive and even interactive content. The viewer will be submerged into the reality of the director and will be transported in the reality shaped by him/her.

There are plenty of 360 videos available on the net. Many of them you can simply view on Youtube, just type in “360 video” and you’ll find a bunch!

It is possible to have limited interaction in such video. Mostly it is a point-and-click interaction, in which the viewer gazes at a location to trigger an action.

Virtual Company Visit

It is a hassle to invite groups of prospects or clients to your factory. Sometimes it even is impossible to do this. A 360 video allows you to take full control over what is shown, and you will be able to distribute the video to a much larger number of people without the logistical nightmare a real company visit would mean!

Storytelling

360 video currently is one of the most powerful ways of telling a story. Unlike normal video, 360 video tends to suck the audience into the story, and make them feel much closer to the action or protagonist.

Storyboard, Concept & Scenario Writing

Here, the studio will work with you to define a storyboard and a concept that matches your brand and corporate image. To ensure an efficient filming day, the scenario is written out and the director will ensure that all the required personnel (actors, people from your company, film crew, …) are available on time.

360 Filming

Typically, for a short 360 video, filming can be done in one to two days. However, the extent of the filming will largely depend on the chosen scenario. It is possible that multiple filming days are required, for example if different locations are being filmed.

Post-production

A 360 video essentially is a combination of multiple video feeds into one. The combination (stitching) of these feeds can largely be automated, but to ensure a perfect result, some steps will have to be done manually.

Also, to ensure a great result, color grading will be done. This will smooth out any color defects, glare or colorizations due to lens settings.

Motion Graphics

Depending on the scenario, it is possible that Motion Graphics will be included. For example, it is possible to inject a person into a video feed using a so-called “green screen”. Much like your weatherman, a green screen recording can be “pasted” and integrated into a video feed. This however requires specific actions and manipulations to ensure a perfect result.

Spatial Sound

Lastly, it is possible that your video includes special sounds. For example, the recording of the voice of a narrator, or adjustments in the background sound can be done. Additionally, it is possible to inject sounds in a specific direction, so that the viewer is inclined to look in that direction.

Deployment

Once the video is ready, it can be deployed on for example Youtube. This will allow anyone to view the video, or you can place it on a private link to share separately. Alternatively a separate container app can be developed which includes the video, and can allow additional interactions.
